Keep your Eyes Open to help

-

AS schools begin t he countdown to the summer holidays, Angus residents have been urged to join an Eyes Open campaign spearheaded by child protection committees.

The bodies hope the initiative will raise awareness that members of the public can play an important role in keeping children safe.

Angus Child Protection Committee chairwoman Christine Knight said: “For most children this is a time of year filled with fun, but for some the summer holidays are a time of increased stress and pressure.”

She added: “By keeping our eyes open and our other senses tuned in, we might spot the tell-tale signs that a child is at risk. These include seeing children wandering about at all hours, children who appear unfed, unsupervised children or children whose parents do not appear to be managing to care for them safely. However, spotting the signs isn’t enough. It’s better to say something than do nothing.”
