Perth winner may return for another run

- BY JAMES MASSON

TRAINER Rose Dobbin may bring Honourable Gent back to Perth after his win in the two mile handicap chase at the Scone Palace Park track on Saturday.

The horse was the first of a treble for Rose with Politeness and Jack Devine also triumphing.

Speaking of Honourable Gent, she said: “He is a fragile horse who had been off the track for 14 months before his Perth win.

“His previous run was a victory at Wetherby where he had also won 10 days previous to that, so his Perth success was his third win in a row.

“I hope to run him more this year and I am not against coming back to Perth.

“He puts in a lot of effort on the gallops at home and really toughed it out to win on Saturday.

“However, he is a fragile sort and, hopefully, he will stay fit.”

Craig Nichol was aboard all of Rose’s winners on Saturday.

He said of success No 2 Politeness. “He’s a very honest horse who toughed it out. He was just so determined not to be beaten and he gave me a great spin.”

Craig added: “It’s great to be involved with such a great team.”

In the last five seasons, Hawick lad Craig has partnered 127 winners, 60 each in steeplechases and over hurdles and seven in National Hunt races. He’s had over 20 winners at Perth.
