Officers, some in riot gear, stormed a property on Callender Gardens.

It is understood the police had been investigating a domestic incident in another part of the city.

They are believed to have been searching for someone when they attended the Callender Gardens house on Monday night.

Residents i n the area described seeing as many as 30 police officers at the scene.

It is understood that a cultivation of drugs, believed to be cannabis, was discovered in the house.

People living in the area said police remained at the property overnight on Monday.

Yesterday afternoon police were seen removing drugs paraphernalia, including what appeared to be heat lamps and extractor fans, from the property.

Neighbours said officers carried out door-to-door inquiries asking if they had seen a man wearing a black cap and walking a dog.

One witness said: “The police must have first arrived on the scene around 10.40pm on Monday.

“They took about 30 hits to get the door of the property open.

“I saw police officers in riot gear, but I never saw anyone getting lifted.”

Another resident added: “There had been a lot of loud banging as officers tried to get access to the address.

“The police have been at the scene for well over 24 hours.

“I thought something serious had happened as police were changing shifts outside the address all night.”

Another woman said: “This is a great street with the odd bit of bother, but nothing too untoward usually happens here”

A police van and police car remained at the scene yesterday.

A spokesman for the force said: “Police attended an address on Callender Gardens, late in the evening of Monday while investigating an incident which had taken place elsewhere in Dundee earlier that evening.

“Inquiries are continuing.”
