Man, 40, ‘found with weapons’

A MAN has been remanded in custody after allegedly being found in possession of a number of offensive weapons.

Eric Cox, of Marryat Terrace, is also alleged to have possessed heroin in a public place.

The 40-year-old appeared in private before Sheriff George Way at Dundee Sheriff Court on a petition alleging that he possessed diamorphin­e on Provost Road on Friday.

It is also alleged that he possessed an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed, namely a box cutter, at Caird Park on Saturday.

He is further alleged to have behaved in a threatenin­g or abusive manner likely to cause fear or alarm, threatened violence towards staff and caused them fear or alarm at Morrisons supermarke­t on the same date and possessed a large lock knife at Caird Park on the same date.

Cox is further accused of possessing an offensive weapon, namely a multi tool with a blade, a small Swiss Army knife, a screwdrive­r, a brick and a small locking knife at Caird Park on the same date.

He is also alleged to have assaulted an unknown member of the public by throwing a brick at them at the same location on the same date.

All of the alleged offences were said by prosecutor­s to have been committed while Cox was on three bail orders.

He made no plea and was remanded in custody while the case was continued.
