Kerr joins Saints on Austrian trip

-

DEFENDER Jason Kerr joined up with the St Johnstone squad today prior to them flying out to Austria for a week of pre-season training.

The youngster was given extra time off due to playing for Scotland in the Toulon tournament in France.

Saints are in Austria for six days and have a closeddoor game lined up against NK Osijek, a Croatian side who are preparing for Europa League matches.

The Perth side’s team boss Tommy Wright said: “I’m really pleased to be back after what has been a slightly longer break than has become the norm in recent times when we’ve been in the Europa League.

“However, that extra time has been vital to the players who got very little break a year ago and in the times before t hat due t o our Europa League involvement.

“We’ve had three days of hard work in Perth before heading away and it is great the club has been able to take the boys abroad.

“A lot of great preparation work can be done while we are away in Austria.

“There will be one, possibly t wo, bounce games at the training camp.

“The first of those i s against Osijek at the weekend.

“It’s, perhaps, tougher opposition than I might have wanted for the first game but it’s all about fitness.”

Saints have taken goalkeeper Dean Lyness with them. He was most recently with Nuneaton of the National League North.
