‘DISAPPOINT­ED’ TO LOSE STRIKER MILNE

MONTROSE manager Stewart Petrie has wished forward Lewis Milne all the best at Raith Rovers.

The Gable Endies were keen to keep the player but the lure of a full-time deal a t S t a r k ’s P a r k h a s prompted Milne to move to Fife.

“I’m disappoint­ed to lose Lewis as he played a big part in taking us to where we are now, in League One,” said Stewart.

“He is a quality player and a nice lad and I am delighted for him that he has been given a crack at full-time football with Raith.

“It’s a big blow for us to lose him.”

Petrie has brought in just Josh Skelly since the end of last season but he is still looking to add to his squad.

He said: “I’m still on the hunt to add to the pool but there is no panic and it is important that we get the right players in.

“I have 18 signed players and we will see if we manage t o add t o t hat soon.”

Montrose face Peterhead at home on Saturday in a friendly but their home friendly versus Dunfermlin­e on Monday is off.

A week on Saturday, Montrose are at home to Cove Rangers in a friendly.

Speaking about the Pe t e r h e a d e n c o u n t e r, Petrie commented: “I’m looking forward to what will be a big test against a good, strong side. Our pre-season training has been going well and we are looking forward to getting back into action.”
