Motorbike vandals trash golf course
POLICE are hunting for vandals who trashed the greens of a Dundee golf course.
It is believed the culprits caused “significant damage” to the grounds of Camperdown Golf Course using motorbikes.
Staff discovered the mess on Tuesday, with tyre marks visible across the first, third, fourth and ninth holes of the course.
“Leisure & Culture Dundee, which runs the course on behalf of Dundee City Council, said the club was targeted while closed due to the adverse weather conditions.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed they are searching for the culprits.
She said: “Inquiries are being carried out after significant damage was caused to Camperdown Golf Course, Dundee, overnight.
“If anyone knows who is responsible, they can call 101 quoting 0608 of February 5.”
Vandalism has been an issue for the Camperdown course as well as several others across the city in the past few years.
Letham Grange Golf Club in Arbroath also suffered vandalism on its fairways caused by tyre tracks as well having a buggy stolen in January.
A Leisure & Culture Dundee spokesman added: “We can confirm there has been extensive damage to Camperdown.
“As this is now a police matter, it would be inappropriate for us to comment further although we would encourage anyone with information to contact Police Scotland.”
