Hectic for Middletons

SPORTS Lauren and Kyle had full weekend of badminton

NOMADS kept up their bid to retain the Dundee and District Badminton A ssoc iat ion ( DA B A ) Division One title with a 6-0 win versus Harris.

This moves them to within two points of leaders Dundee Uni.

It was a hectic weekend for Lauren and Kyle Middleton.

They competed in the Scottish Championsh­ips in Perth on Friday and Saturday and turned out for Nomads on Sunday. Lauren also played in the DABA ladder on Sunday.

On her first appearance of the season for Nomads, Lauren had three wins as did Anna Pattoni.

In the ‘Scottish’ held in Perth, Lauren put up a very good showing in all competitio­ns.

In the ladies singles, she reached the quarter-finals, losing out to Julie McPherson.

In the ladies doubles, she teamed up with Sarah Sidebottom.

They were close to causing an upset against Kirsty Gilmour and Basia Grodynsha in the quarterfin­als, winning the first set 21-16 before losing 21-19 in the second set. They lost the decider 21-12.

Lauren went one better in the mixed doubles going all the way to the semis.

Partnered by Ciar Pringle they lost 21-10 19-21, 21-12 to eventual winners Adam Hall and Julie McPherson.

Kyle and Ross were making their debuts in the senior event and lost at the first hurdle.
