Wee Sing opportunity for young pupils
A MUSICAL project aimed at inspiring kids to sing is returning to Dundee.
Wee Sing is an initiative by the National Youth Choir of Scotland (NYCOS) aimed at children in primary three, encouraging them to learn singing through games.
And from Wednesday February 27 onwards, children will learn about pitching, rhythm and beat through interactive games and activities at the High School of Dundee.
This is a Youth Music Initiative funded project from NYCOS, Scotland’s youth singing organisation. Karen Clark, one of the Wee Sing leaders, said: “NYCOS Wee Sing provides an invaluable opportunity for primary three pupils to come together and experience high-quality, enjoyable music-making through singing.
“It is fun, free and allows children the opportunity to develop their love of singing in a very engaging and social setting.”
The choir has toured internationally to Ireland (2000), Sweden (2001), Chicago (2004), Hungary (2007), Germany (2010) and Central Europe (2013).
Dundee’s Wee Sing will run from February 27 until March 27 and lasts from 5pm-6pm.
Kids in Perth will also be able to take part in the project between 5.45pm and 6.45pm on February 26 and March 26 at St John’s RC Academy on Gowans Terrace.
The project is completely free but spaces are limited so parents are advised to book in advance by visiting www.nycos.org.uk/weesing.
