Dundee City Council is still to decide on planning approval for the additional facilities.

Dozens of homes have also been created by Persimmon Homes, with further developments in the works.

Exactly how the school campus will work has yet to be decided.

All three councils have started work which would see them share responsibility for the school.

The campus was added to the plans to allay fears of other local schools being overcrowded.

Springfield said the new school would be funded by the “roof tax” of £4,680 for each home built on the site that it was paying to the council.

While the school plan is still being discussed, Angus Council has confirmed it has no objection to the wider plan, which straddles the Dundee-Angus council borders.

Kate Cowey, service leader in planning and communities, said: “The current planning application is not considered to have a detrimental impact on the land use planning interests in Angus.

“The application does not raise any issues of strategic significance.”
