Pitch switch pays off for Perth men

-

THE switching of Kinnoull’s Thorntons Property League Cup tie to West Calder was a brave decision by the Perth club, given their 3-0 defeat in the first meeting.

However, it was a decision that certainly paid off, with their convincing 5-2 victory good enough to win the group.

Mark Smith hit a hat-trick and there were singles from Ben Regan and Greg Whyte.

In the Premier League South, Newburgh gave a much-improved performance at home to Lochore Welfare but it wasn’t enough to prevent them going down by the odd goal in seven.

Gordon Clark, Jake Hutchison and Craig Robertson scored for the Fifers.
