Sam’s late strikes stun hosts Scone

CARNOUSTIE had to dig deep for their 2-1 victory over Scone Th ist le i n the Thorntons Property League Cup.

The Gowfers found themselves behind at the interval with Kevin Sinclair heading the hosts into the lead in first-half injury-time.

It was 83 minutes before Carnoustie levelled through a Sam Simpson penalty.

Simpson struck again in the final minute to give the Gowfers the win that makes it four out of four in their section and takes them through to the next stage.

North End were comfortabl­e 5-1 winners in the end against Blairgowri­e thanks to a late four-goal blitz.

Kevin Milne put North End ahead on 50 minutes with Gary Axworthy equalising after 72 minutes.

However, the Dokens raced clear in the latter stages with Milne, Ryan Smith, Drew Wighton and Gary Archibald making up the nap hand.

RESULT of the week – It has to be LOCHEE UNITED’S 4-0 Scottish Cup fifthround victory over Craigmark Burntonian­s in Ayrshire.
