Easton back but Saints blow as O’Halloran is taken off with an injury

THERE is mixed news on the injury front for St Johnstone.

After being out f or around 18 months, Brian Easton made his return in the 1-1 home reserve draw against Rangers.

He played the first half before being replaced by Ciaran Brien.

H o w e v e r, M i c h a e l O’Halloran was taken off injured after just 10 minutes and could be doubtful f o r S a i n t s’ top-team game away to Rangers on Saturday.

Jamie McKenzie, one of two former Letham underage players in the Saints squad, the other being Shaun Struthers, gave the Perth men the lead but Glenn Middleton levelled.

Blair Alston saw his last minute spot-kick saved by Rangers keeper Kieran Wright. The award was given after Danny Swanson was fouled.

The Saints side was a mix of youth and experience.

Ea s t o n , O ’ H a l l o r a n , Alston and Swanson were joined by other first-team squad members Cammy Bell, Liam Gordon and Callum Hendry.

Former Dundee player Glen Kamara played a starring role for Rangers including setting up Middleton’s goal.

American Matt Polster also featured, as well as Lassana Coulibaly.

Meanwhile, two former St Johnstone players have gained praise from Carlisle United manager Steven Pressley.

Stefan Scougall and Gary Miller are at Carlisle and Pressley said: “I thought Scougall had a really productive second half in the 1-1 home divide against Exeter City. He came on and really imposed himself on the game and showed why we brought him here.

“As for Gary Miller, he has stepped into the team and done par ticularly well.”
