More jail time for baby-shaking thug

- BY CIARAN SHANKS

A THUG who left a baby bra i n- d a m a ged a f te r a tantrum about a computer game has been jailed for a campaign of abuse against three women.

Dale Thomson, 27, physically abused the women in Dundee over a period of seven years.

One of those victims was the mum of the tot he left permanently disabled during the baby shaking attack last April, after becoming “stressed” while playing an Xbox game.

Thomson previously pleaded guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court to attacking the women and sentencing was referred to the High Court in Glasgow.

One woman was punched and kicked while she held her baby.

A second was bitten on the forehead by Thomson in another savage assault.

The third woman was at one point subjected to a brutal two-hour beating that started while she was on the phone to Thomson’s mother.

During that attack, Thomson told her: “Look what you made me do, it’s your fault, you do things to get a reaction out of me.”

Fiscal depute Charmaine Gilmartin said previously: “He punched her face and kicked her thigh while she was holding her baby in her arms.”

The second woman had been living with Thomson.

Mrs Gilmartin added: “There was an argument because they couldn’t pay rent and were going to be evicted.

“She said it was because they were paying for his weed and he became angry.”

Thomson, formerly of Irvine but more recently living in Arbroath, pleaded guilty on indictment to charges of assault committed at addresses in Dundee in 2010, 2015 and 2017.

He was sentenced to three years in jail for the attacks, which will run consecutively to the four years and eight months he was previously given for the assault on the baby.
