Life saver, foster carer and charity fundraiser, Judith truly is a cut above

-

ATAYSIDE woman with a love for others has just accomplished her latest act of compassion. Judith Whitehead had her shoulder-length locks shorn at Perth salon Loyal Fringes with her lovingly-tended hair being cut off by salon co-proprietor Fiona Kerr. The shop was packed with Judith’s family and friends who have helped her raise £700 which will go towards the fight to combat cancer. “I know a lot of people who have been diagnosed with cancer, some have survived some haven’t,” said Judith. “This is the first time I have done anything like this. “When I decided I wanted to do a fundraiser to collect money for the fight against cancer I realised I couldn’t do a sponsored silence as I wouldn’t be able to keep my mouth shut long enough. “So I thought ‘Brave The Shave’, I’ll do that. Now I have done the head shave I will likely do more fundraisers. “I’m grateful for all the support I have received from family and friends. And there are some folk I don’t know who have donated. “Anyone else who wants to give money can do so by contacting Heyjudewhitehead on Facebook.” This isn’t the first time Judith has been at the forefront of a compassionate act. A few years ago, while working in Perth’s Asda, she saved the life of a child who was choking. “I am a first aider and went to help a kiddie who was choking in the car park. “Due to my first aid skills, I knew what to do and I was so glad I saved the wee one’s life. “I still see him as he often comes up and speaks to me.” Judith is also a foster carer, giving a home to children in need of warmth and compassion. “I do what I can to help – and enjoy doing so,” Judith concluded.
