Hilltown ease through

SPORTS Dundee team too hot after they agree to switch NoT tie

-

THE sporting conduct of leading Dundee Saturday Morning Football League side Hilltown Hotspurs was rewarded after they ag reed to Bu r re lton’s request to bring thei r Direct Soccer-sponsored Nort h of Tay f i x t u re forward.

To accommodate the Burrelton guys heading to a wedding on the 23rd of this month, when the rest of the last 16 matches will be played, Hilltown agreed to re-date the tie and it was played last Saturday.

The move paid off with Hilltown winning 2-0 against a side who previously won the North of Tay Cup in 2012.

On a soggy park it became a battle of wills with the Dundee outfit triumphing over the wellestablished Perthshire Amateurs outfit.

Burrelton battled doggedly but, in the end, Hilltown were worthy winners.

Hilltown were wasteful in front of goal, however they did enough to win and restricted their Perthshire opponents to two shots on target.

A Stephen Gagin penalty and an own goal booked Hilltown into the quarter-finals.

They will now come up against the winners of the Park Tool v Menzieshill fixture which takes place a week on Saturday.

Hilltown have a decent North of Tay Cup record and are hoping they can go all the way to winning it. They have previously reached the semi-finals.
