Saints boss ‘pleased’ to have Foster signed up for another season

-

ST JOHNSTONE boss Tommy Wright is delighted Richard Foster has become the latest player to commit his future to the club.

Foster told the Tele a few weeks ago he was ready to sign on again at McDiarmid Park and he has now done so, extending his stay until May 2020.

Tommy said: “I’m pleased to have Richard signed up again.

“It’s been verbally agreed for a while but it’s now all signed off.

“Richard has had a good season and the same can be said for the majority of our defenders.

“He’s 35 and at an age where he adds a lot of experience to the squad which is vital.

“Richard has a wealth of experience playing for big clubs. He has played in both Scotland for Aberdeen, Rangers, Ross County and us and i n England for Bristol City.

“On and off the pitch he’s been very important for us.

“I’m sure he’ll continue to play a big part for the remainder of this season and into next year.”

Tommy continued: “He’s in good shape and is a fantastic professional. He’s a winner. I’m really pleased as it’s another piece of the jigsaw puzzle in place for next season.”

Foster has been one of Saints’ top players and he’s pleased with how his season has gone so far.

He acknowledges Saints have an important run of games coming up, Rangers away followed by Aberdeen and Hibs at home.

He stated: “We’ve had a good season so far. We had that great unbeaten and clean sheet run which saw us climb up the table.

“We’re four points ahead of Motherwell, five ahead of Hibs, going into three huge games. Hopefully, we will pick up points from them.

“If we can I think it will stand us in good stead for finishing the season strongly and in the top six.”
