Driver has ‘shown no remorse’ over death

-

T H E fa mi ly of bi ker k i l led by a careless driver have accused the motorist involved of showing “no remorse” over the death.

Matthew Jamieson drove his Volkswagen Golf into the path of motorbike salesman Graeme Bell at the junction of the A930 and Station Road, Barry, on November 3 2017.

Despite the immediate attention of a passing senior intensive care nurse and a firefighter, Mr Bell died at the scene.

Jamieson, 20, of Burnside Street, Carnoustie, pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving and will be sentenced at Dundee Sheriff Court on March 7.

Mr Bell’s family said in a statement: “Graeme was a loving son, brother, husband, grandson and family man.

“Every single day we are heartbroken at the loss of such an important, bright and i rreplaceable member of our family.

“The driver who took Graeme from us has shown no sign of remorse – even the way the crash happened suggests he simply doesn’t care about the wellbeing of anyone other than himself.

“We 100% believe the driver deserves to be jailed for what he did. He killed someone. He took a life.

“If he is not jailed then it’s proof that the justice system is utterly broken and only treats victims and their families as an after-thought, if at all.”
