Kids’ charity celebrates service relaunch
A LEADING charity has celebrated the relaunch of its children’s service in the city.
Barnardo’s Scotland and Dundee City Council have worked in partnership for more than three decades to support children and their families.
The service works with children and young people from birth to 18 years of age and provides family, parent and carer support.
Sue Stokes, team leader for Barnardo’s Scotland, said: “We’re delighted the service.
“We have worked with our partners Dundee City Council and have designed the service to meet our families and users’ needs.”
The service works with children, young people and their families who are experiencing a range of additional support needs, including disability.
The charity is also offering people the opportunity to get involved with through various volunteering roles, which vary from befriending to to be able relaunch providing one to one support, group work after school, during school holiday activity days and for sitters to help provide respite for families.
The volunteer positions are for anyone aged 16 and over who would like to help support children and young people in Dundee.
Louise Rawe, volunteer co-ordinator for Barnardo’s, said: “As we have a number of volunteer roles to offer, the time to give will vary. But even a couple of hours a week would make a huge difference to the families.”
