Mitchell spot on as Scone take over at the top of the table

-

SCONE Thistle’s fine 3-1 win over East Craigie took them to the top the Premier League North.

Thistle’s Ross Mitchell scored the only goal of the first half and the first 10 minutes of the second half proved decisive.

Craigie’s James Malone conceded two penalties, both of which were converted by Craig Mitchell.

Adam Brown’s strike midway through the second period was only of consolation value to the visitors.

As expected, Kinnoull breezed to victory at Coupar Angus, beating the bottom club 6-0.

An own goal after 15 minutes set them on their way with Liam Woolley and Ben English on target before the interval. Second-half scorers were Mark Smith, with a double, and Ben Regan.

Kinnoull have appealed the decision to dock them three points and fine them £100 for fielding an ineligible player.

Giving one of their best performances for some time, Blairgowrie also scored six goals on the road without reply away to Brechin Vics. Darren Neave hit a hat-trick, Gary Axworthy bagged a brace with Rudi Brown getting the other.

Arbroath Vics came from two down at the break to edge out Forfar Albion at Guthrie Park after a seven-goal thriller. Albion were ahead through Kevin Scott after his second-minute penalty conversion and Craig Paterson added No 2 after 10 minutes.

Goals from Ben Fraser and Mike Fotheringham drew Vics level by midway through the second half.

Further goals from Dean Harris and Cammy Mooney shot the visitors into a two-goal lead with Matthew Couttie scoring Albion’s third.
