Stars hoping to quell the Storm down south

-

KITMART Dundee Stars are looking to build on t he i r de rby w i n ove r Fife Flyers with another important victory away to Manchester Storm tonight (7.30pm).

Dundee come into the midweek match off the back of an uplifting 4-1 win over Fife Flyers.

This meant Stars completed a perfect record of four home wins out of four against their rivals.

Just as Dundee ended a fivegame losing streak, Guildford handed Ryan Finnerty’s Storm their fifth consecutive loss as they lost 1-0 in Surrey and also lost their Patton Conference Champions status to the Flames.

Stars occupy the eighth and last play-off spot and sit three points ahead of Storm, who have played one game more than Dundee.

Last time Stars and Storm met was just less than a month ago and Dundee dominated the game on home ice.

The 3-1 win was Omar Pacha’s first over his previous employers this season.

Both teams have been missing players. Dundee’s injury woes have left them three down.

Meanwhile, suspensions are the cause of Finnerty’s headache as two of his players will be banned for the match.

Stars centreman, Jordan Cownie knows it will be tough in Manchester but is confident.

He said: “I think going down there is always a tough game but I am sure Omar will have a game plan. If we stick to it, we will be fine.”
