Fair in the Ferry

THE semi-annual Broughty Ferry stamp, postcard and coin fair returns on Saturday.

The event will t ake place at the St Aidan’s Centre on Brook Street.

Stamp, postcard and coin dealers from across Scotland will be in attendance.

Dealers will be able to answer questions about postcards, stamps, coins, postal history and other collectibl­es.

They will also be able to give free valuations on items.

The f ai r r uns from 10am-3pm. FAMILIES from across Tayside have come together to record an uplifting music video for World Down Syndrome Day.

The footage, filmed at Monikie Country Park, features members of the Dundee-based Sing It Sign It Makaton Choir narrating the lyrics of the song You Will Be Found.

Makaton is a streamline­d form of sign language designed to help people communicat­e. It is used in conjunctio­n with the spoken word as youngsters including those with Down syndrome develop their speech. TAXI drivers who switched to e lect r ic ca rs a re switching back to fossil fuel engines ahead of the council introducin­g fees for charging their cars, it has been claimed.

The Tele understand­s a number of drivers have either made the switch from electric vehicles (EVs) to traditiona­l diesel-powered cars, or are in the process of doing so.

Frustrated drivers say the added cost of paying for charging means EVs will cost more to own in the long run than convention­al cars.

The Tele revealed in January Dundee City Council was set to introduce fees for electric car charging later this year, following similar moves by other councils such as Dumfries and Galloway.

However, the charge plan has been criticised by drivers who bought EVs because of the promise of free charging, which are said to offset the extra costs associated with buying one.
