Terrors May not but plenty still interested in landing striker Stevie

DUNDEE United boss Robbie Neilson continues to insist he’s not in the race to capture available Aberdeen striker Stevie May.

But plenty of other clubs are still keen to take the 26-year-old.

There was specualtion on Friday evening that May could be Tannadice-bound on a season long loan.

After the 3-0 win over Cowdenbeath, however, Robbie said he was happy with the strike force he’s got.

And right now his priority remains getting his hands on an attacking player for the left side of his midfield.

“We’ll have Osman Sow back in a week or two, we’ve got Lawrence Shankland, Nicky Clark and young Louis Appere has done well, so we’re not looking at up there,” he said.

City rivals Dundee have also been in the frame and it’s understood they’ve not entirely given up hope of landing May.

With three Premiership outfits also chasing him, however, the Dark Blues are likely to take their interest elsewhere.

Short of goals in two Betfred Cup defeats so far, May’ s former club St Johnstone remain the front runners to get hold of him.

His agent, Rowan Vine, was at McDiarmid Park yesterday as Saints slumped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Ross County to end their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Betfred.

The 90 minutes were marked by a string of missed home chances and it’s no secret boss Tommy Wright is keen to get May back to Perth.

Likewise, after their early season troubles, both Kilmarnock and St Mirren are still in touch with Aberdeen about landing the former Scotland U/21 star.
