Gathering at Clan is Stars’ first league tie of season

KITMART Dundee Stars have announced their fixtures for the new Elite League season.

It begins on August 31 away to Glasgow Clan.

This follows on from Stars’ pre-season games against Danish side Odense Bulldogs.

On that opening night against Clan, Stars will travel to Glasgow to play Zack Fitzgerald’s side in Challenge Cup Group A action before returning home to face the same team, again in the cup, the following night.

Dundee then begin their Elite League campaign on the road against Manchester Storm on September 7.

The first derby between Stars and Fife Flyers will take place the following night in Dundee.

They then have a home double header on September 14 and 15 against Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers.

The Taysiders take on Elite League and Challenge Cup champs Belfast Giants in Northern Ireland on September 21 in the cup group stage.

They will face the EIHL PredictorB­et Play-Off winners Cardiff Devils i n Wales on October 10.

Stars host their main rivals on Boxing Day as Fife Flyers come to DIA for the festive-period clash before a return leg two days later.

Dundee will round off 2019 in Belfast as they face Giants on December 30.

First action of 2020 for Omar Pacha’s men is also against Giants on January 2.

There is only one away double header for the Dundonians in 2020. It firstly takes them to Nottingham on January 4 to play Panthers before they head down to Surrey the next day for a battle against Guildford Flames.

The last regular season meet up between Stars and Flyers will be on February 22 at the Dundee Ice Arena.

Dundee then welcome Nottingham to Tayside for their final home league fixture on March 28.

The Elite League play-offs start on April 3, with the quarter-finals played over that weekend.

Stars’ 2020 home opener against Belfast Giants on January 2 has been selected for live TV coverage by Freesports.

There will be at least eight derbies between Dundee and Fife this season, all of the games being eagerly anticipate­d.

Stars’ home dates are September 8, December 7, December 26 and February 22, while they travel to Flyers on October 6, November 10, December 28 and February 8.
