Why, why, why city buses are rerouting

-

BUS operator Xplore Dundee is reminding passengers that It’s Not Unusual for diversions to take place on the weekend of a Slessor Gardens concert, a head of Si r Tom Jones arriving in the city on Saturday.

The firm is encouraging concertgoers to take the bus into the city centre to reduce traffic around the Waterfront and to speed up travel to and from the venue.

The Shore Terrace bus zone to the rear of the Caird Hall will be closed off for the duration of the show, meaning no fewer than eight services will be diverted elsewhere in the city.

Services such as the 4, 5, 9/10, 17, 22, 28/29, 32/33 and 57a/59 which normally use the Nethergate, Whitehall Street, Crichton Street and Shore Terrace will be diverted.

However, Xplore will lay on special inspectors in the city centre to guide passengers towards their nearest stop to get the Green, Green Bus Home.

Dundee City Council has published diversion details ahead of Saturday’s concert, which will see several streets around Slessor Gardens close from 2pm on Saturday ahead of set-up for the show going ahead.

Thomson Avenue, Dock Street and South Union Street will close to all traffic, with traffic diverted along the Marketgait loop around the city centre and buses redirected along Ward Road, Commercial Street and Seagate.

The legendary Welsh crooner’s show is the first staged by the Liz Hobbs Group this summer, after Craig David’s show was relocated to the Caird Hall following poor ticket sales.
