Forfarshire have much at stake in tricky game
T H E fi n ish i ng l i ne of t he E a ste r n P re m ie r Cricket Division is fast approaching and getting more entertaining every weekend.
There is still plenty to play for at both the top and bottom of the table and this weekend’s fixtures can go a long way in deciding what happens.
Leaders Forfarshire face a tricky fixture against Dyce at Peoples Park. Both sides have had fantastic season but Forfarshire are the ones who have something to play for in the title race.
They will see this as one of the tougher games in their run-in. However, they will be confident of getting the victory after there win over Royal High Corstorphine last Saturday.
Craig Wallace will be looking to repeat his fine century of last weekend. The rest of the Dundee side’s top five, Michaell Leask, Rory Johnston, Chris Greaves and Callum Garden, will also be keen to score big runs to propel them to a high total.
Scott Cameron and Bryce Alchin have been brilliant in the bowling stakes and will be looking to continue that alongside the spinners who have been bowling very well.
The home side will be looking to cause an upset and are capable of doing so.
Liam Lindsay will be the one to get them to a winnable total and bowler Jamie King will be key.
Forfarshire will be hoping rivals Arbroath can do them a favour when they host title challengers Grange.
The visitors will be aware the Lichties have already got the better of Forfarshire this year so will be wary of them causing an upset.
The Edinburgh side will be relying on Dylan Budge and Oli Hairs to continue their fine form to get them to a massive total.
Jamie Cairns, Charlie Peet and Tom Mackintosh are back from a successful World Cup U/19 qualifying tournament and are hopeful of giving good shows.
Arbroath will look towards professional Whian Lubbe to make a big score and they will also hope Marc Petrie, Calvin Burnett and Craig Ramsey can put in big performances.
Heriot’s host Stewart’s-Melville who will be hoping for one more win to save them from relegation. The home side are favourites with Elliot Ruthven, Hayes Van Der Berg and Ryan Brown likely to be too strong.
