A VOLUNTEER at Perth Royal Infirmary has been recognised for her commitment.

Anisah Mohammed was one of 10 NHS Tayside volunteers given a Saltire Award, which is a Scottish Government initiative.

She has spent 200 hours helping at the community maternity unit in Perth.

THE new season of Perth Film Society starts on September 12.

The group has lined up seven modern classics, to be screened every second Thursday evening.

Spanish drama Everybody Knows will launch the new season at Perth Theatre’s Joan Knight Studio. PERTH city centre was the scene of a dramatic rescue early on Saturday evening.

All three emergency services were called to attend to a distressed man who was on Perth bridge which spans the River Tay in the centre of the city between Charlotte Street and the Bridgend area.

The bridge was sealed off to vehicular and pedestrian traffic for around an hour before the man was led to safety at around 7.09pm.

Co-Wheels offers a pay-as-youdrive scheme, allowing motorists to hire a car for an hourly rate before returning it to an allocated space, which are spread throughout the city.

However on this occasion the driver was forced to return their vehicle to the adjacent space on the Nethergate, which had a three-hour maximum time limit.

A passer-by subsequent­ly photograph­ed t wo parking attendants putting a fine on the car because it had over-stayed the maximum duration.
