Wright boosted by the showing of teenager McCann against Livi
ST JOHNSTONE boss
Tommy Wright was pleased with the contribution of teenager Ali McCann as Saints battled back from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home to
Livingston on Saturday.
The midfielder has “a big future” said Tommy after
McCann gave an assured showing.
The 19-year-old did well when he came on at halftime against Celtic in the
Perth men’s 7-0 away hiding a week past Saturday.
He replaced Ross
Callachan and Wright said after that game that
McCann showed “bravery on the ball”.
The Saints boss felt the same after the Livi divide.
“Ali did really well for our second goal, finding
Scott Tanser with a slick pass. It was from Tanser’s cross that Callum Hendry scored so Ali can be pleased with the role he played in that.
“He showed again what a good player he can be for us. I was happy with him.”
Wright also expressed himself satisfied with
Hendry, who came on as a substitute and fired in the leveller.
“Callum did well. He took his goal well and the strike will give him confidence.”
Meanwhile, on the injury front, Drey Wright is continuing on the comeback trail.
Once the Livi match was over, he took part in a full training session on one of
Saints’ training pitches.
He is currently doing full pre-season workouts as he battles back from a serious knee injury but is a few weeks away from making a playing return.
Saints conceded the first goal in 19 matches last season and took only a single point from those losing positions so the Livi divide was a positive they want to build on.
The Perth men have no game this Saturday as they are out of the Betfred Cup.
They next f ace Hibs away a week on Saturday.
