Ferry restaurant celebrates 40 years with exclusive deal

A POPULAR curry house is celebrat i ng its 40t h a n n iversa r y w ith a fantastic “buy one get one free” offer exclusive to the Evening Telegraph.

Gulistan House in Broughty Ferry first opened in 1979, and to mark its fifth decade in business is inviting Tele readers to enjoy a bargain meal at its newly refurbishe­d restaurant on Queen Street.

The eatery, l ocated i nside a former church, is one of the city’s oldest Indian restaurant­s, serving thousands of Dundonians down the years.

It was founded by Munsif Ali Mohammed and today is run by his son Ahzar Mohammed following Munsif’s retirement in 2017.

Azhar said: “My dad first opened the Gulistan in Gray Street as the first Indian restaurant in Broughty Ferry, and continues to have fond memories of the ‘Wee Guli’ as it was known.

“As one of the longest establishe­d restaurant­s i n Dundee most people will have dined with us at some point.

“This offer is in celebratio­n of our 40th anniversar­y so we’re hoping to be welcoming customers of many years, as well as those who haven’t ever been.”

The Guli has undergone various changes in its 40-year history and most recently has renovated its dining area into a smaller, more intimate space.

A private function room has also been created to cater for parties.

Gulistan House does not sell alcohol and operates a “bring your own bottle” policy.

Customers are welcome to bring their own beer or wine. There is no charge for corkage.
