Inverness return to home action for the first time in nearly three weeks when they host a freescoring Morton side, who have netted 26 goals in their opening eight matches in all competitions.

The Caley Jags are aiming to improve on last season’s home record, which saw them win just five of their 18 matches at Caledonian Stadium.

Having recorded a 2-1 victory over Arbroath in their first home outing this term, Irishman Doran is hopeful his side can build on it when they take on David Hopkin’s side in the Championship tonight.

Doran said: “I haven’t seen Morton, just their results, but they’ve been involved in a lot of high-scoring games.

“Last season, they would have sat in and looked to frustrate us, but I think they’re the kind of team that is going to try to go at us.

“Last season it was difficult to break teams down but, if they come and attack us, hopefully there will be space to exploit.”

Caley Jags struck late to defeat the Red Lichties in their last home outing through Miles Storey’s 82nd-minute winner, and Doran feels developing a ruthless streak at home holds the key to his side’s hopes of challenging for the title.

The 28-year-old said: “For the first part of last season, we were winning games up to the last 10 minutes and then we would come away with a draw.

“We’ve already got rid of that this season.

“We got the win against Arbroath, which wasn’t our greatest performance, but we managed to pull out the victory.”
