International pair the only absentees for Dee in Challenge Cup clash

-

FIN Robertson and Josh McPake are the only men missing from James McPake’s Dundee squad this Sunday as they take on Elgin City.

The Dark Blues kick off their Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup campaign with a home clash against the League Two outfit.

And the Dens gaffer will have almost a full squad to choose from.

McPake said: “Everybody is fit.

“Fin Robertson and Josh McPake are away with Scotland.

“I spoke to the two of them and they are delighted, enjoying it.

“It’s great for both. They are enjoying being away and why wouldn’t you in Spain?

“They are the only two unavailable.”

Defender Jordan McGhee was forced off after a head knock i n the 6-2 derby defeat last week.

He needed stitches in a gash but is expected to be ready to play if called upon.

The manager added: “Jordan McGhee is fine.

“We had a drill at the start of the week and he’s heading balls away still with stitches in his head.

“Credit to him, I thought he was one who got pass-marks last Friday.

“That sounds daft because he was one of the centre-backs.

“He didn’t want to come off which showed t he character of him and I’m delighted with his input.

“We’ll weigh up how his head is for the weekend but he is fine.”

New man Sean Mackie may also get a debut after he joined on loan from Hibs on Monday night.

McPake said: “Sean Mackie will add depth. If Jordan Marshall picks up an injury, loses form or I just decide I want to change personnel, then I’m asking Cammy Kerr or Jordan McGhee to play over there and that’s not fair on them.”
