Signings not over for Saints as boss Wright seeks cover for Tanser

-

ST JOHNSTONE manager Tommy Wright insists they are not finished signing players after the transfer window closed last week.

Saints will continue to shop the free agent market with Wright seeking cover at left-back and competition for Scott Tanser.

Wright said: “I have been keen to bring in a left-sided defender for some time. Hopefully, we will have someone in soon.”

The Perth side, meanwhile, are counting down their preparations for t he game away to Aberdeen on Saturday.

“With having no game in the Saturday just gone, new boys Anthony Ralston and Jason Holt have had a week to bed in,” Wright added of the two l oan players, Ralston coming in from Celtic and Holt from Rangers.

“Having no match has allowed us more time to work on things, too.

“Anthony and Jason have looked good training.

“They are two quality additions who have brought a lift to the place.

“They have had time to familiarise themselves with their new surroundings and will be ready to go come Saturday.”

The same goes for Stevie May who is now back at the club for his second spell.

He i s also set to be involved against Aberdeen, the club he moved to Saints from just a month ago. May, Ralston and Holt are the three players the McDiarmid Park club brought in just prior to the transfer window closing.

Saints have three players away on international duty and Wright i s hoping t hey return unscathed.

Defender Madis Vihmann is with Estonia, Ali McCann is with Northern Ireland U/21 and Matty Kennedy is training with Northern Ireland, although not in their full squad.
