ST JOHNSTONE goalkeeper Zander Clark feels the international break has gi v en the players “a chance to reflect” on their start to the season which sees Saints sitting at the foot of the Premiership.

The Perth men head for Aberdeen on Saturday hoping to secure their first win of the season following draws against Livingston and Hibs and defeats against Celtic and Kilmarnock.

However, Clark feels Saints have it in them to win the points to help them climb the table quickly.

He said: “We have had a tough start and have two hard games coming up, Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday and Rangers at home a week on Sunday but we are ready and keen to put on good shows and secure points.”

Clark has been at Saints for 11 years and has “loved every minute of it”.

He added: “I have had a lot of help which I am extremely grateful for.

“Paul Mathers i s our goalkeeping coach and he is great to work with. He has been a fantastic help to me.

“Alan Main was also great to work with, as was Alan Mannus and Stevie Banks when they were here. They were all great influences on me.

“What they taught me has stood me i n good stead. Now I am passing on what I know to the younger keepers at Saints.

“E l l i o t t Pa r i s h a n d myself are the two senior keepers but t here are youngsters coming up behind us.

“I give pointers to them to help them i nto their development. I received a lot of help when I was their age and now I am passing that on.”

Meanwhile, David Wotherspoon is back in the Saints squad f or t he Aberdeen game.

He made his first start for Canada i n their 1-0 victory against Cuba on Tuesday.
