Connolly missing but United in decent health for clash with Arbroath

-

DUNDEE United boss Robbie Neilson will have almost a full deck to deal out against Arbroath tomorrow.

The Tannadice gaffer expects Mark Connolly to be the only player missing against the Red Lichties.

The centre-back has been out for three weeks after injuring his hamstring in the win over Dundee.

H o w e v e r, the club received good news on the extent of the injury and the hope is that is confirmed by a specialist in London over the weekend.

In his central defensive role, Robbie is likely to have the choice between Troy Brown and Calum Butcher.

Brown was added to the squad to fill in for the injured Connolly but is short of match fitness.

He made his debut in the 2-0 defeat to Ayr and the manager is keen to get as much game time into the player as soon as possible.

Midfielder Butcher has stepped into the backline from midfield to good effect lately and could give United an extra ball player at the back against an Arbroath side expected to sit in.

Meanwhile, the Tangerines are set to move to extend youngster Declan Glass’ contract.

The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Cove Rangers where he is setting League Two alight, scoring five times and winning the Player of the Month award.

United are trying to tie down all of their rising stars to longer deals. Jamie Robson and Logan Chalmers have already put pen to paper while offers have been made to Louis Appere, Scott Banks and Ross Graham.

THERE will be no cash gates or tickets sold from the George Fox Pod for tomorrow’s game against Arbroath.

Tickets can be purchased by phoning 01388 33166 or using the club’s new online system up until kick-off via dundeeunitedfc.co.uk
