Three escape as van flips on roof
A GROUP of van passengers had a lucky escape this morning when their vehicle flipped onto its roof near The Horn restaurant.
Three men emerged unscathed from the accident on the A90 in rushhour traffic. One witness said he was stunned nobody was badly injured in the incident.
Allan Robertson, 42, of Perth, said: “I was driving up from Perth to Dundee where I work when I saw the van on its roof on the westbound side of the road near the Horn Milk Bar.
“There were about a dozen people about the scene and nobody looked to be injured which was a surprise given the van was on its roof.
“It happened between 7.30am and 7.40am when I was on my way to work. I just hope everybody is OK.”
He added: “It looked like it happened where there used to be a turn-off and old slip-road into the restaurant.”
It is thought the van, which appeared to be owned by Pitkerro Plumbing and Heating Contractors, was clipped by another vehicle and flipped over several times before landing on its roof.
Police and an ambulance attended. One lane was closed in the wake of the crash, which caused disruption for morning commuters.
A spokeswoman for police said: “A white van over turned on the A90 near The Horn and there were three occupants on board.
“An ambulance attended, but the occupants’ injuries are not thought to be serious and they were all checked at the scene.”
She added: “There was significant disruption to traffic during the incident.”
A member of staff at The Horn, who did not wish to be named, said: “The van turned over two or three times and it all happened just as we arrived to open up at 7.30 this morning.
“The three guys got out and luckily nobody was hurt.”
