Dundee gaffer McPake: We need to find scoring touch at Palmerston

-

DUNDEE manager James McPake is hoping his side find a way back to goal at Queen of the South on Friday night.

The Dark Blues travel to Palmerston after firing a blank in their 1-0 defeat at Morton on Saturday.

T h e D e e h av e o n l y scored seven goals in six league games but will be looking to add to that tally in Dumfries.

With attacking options like Kane Hemmings, Danny Johnson and Andrew Nelson at his disposal, James is adamant that will change soon.

“It’s been difficult all season for us trying to get past teams,” he said.

“That’s why we brought Graham Dorrans i n and why we brought Kane Hemmings back to the club because we know, at the top end of the pitch, we’re toiling.

“We’re struggling t o break teams down but after watching the Morton game back I thought we created a lot of chances again.

“We should’ve scored a few goals, so we can’t just say it’s down to that goal and Morton hanging on.

“They hung in but they had a few chances as well, which you’re going to get because big Fozzy is running forward and we’re throwing everything at it.

“On another day, late on we get an equaliser. It was great defending by the boy, I must say.

“If that was one of my defenders I’d be buzzing, so a lot of credit to them as well.”

The addition of Graham Dorrans in midfield, McPake feels, could be the key to unlocking defences.

Asked if he was pleased to bring Dorrans in, he added: “I’m not going to stand here and say I’m devastated to get a player like Graham Dorrans into my football club, am I?

“He’s one heck of a player.”
