A FIFE cafe which lets customers pay what they can afford is celebrating a funding boost.

The Coalfields Regeneration Trust has given £1,884 to the volunteer-run Drop-In Connections Cafe in Buckhaven Baptist Church.

It offers hot drinks, soup and snacks along with companionship, is open to everyone and ser ves about 30 regular customers every week.

VIOLINIST Abigail Young and pianist Nick Lauener will perform at the next lunchtime concert in the Wighton Centre i n D u n d e e ’s C e n t r a l Library at 1pm on Wednesday. YOUNGSTERS from St Clements Primary School have raised more than £900 for charity.

The P6 pupils organised the Macmillan coffee morning for their classmates, as well as family members and the local community.

Teacher Nicola Forbes said: “It was a huge success. We had a lot of support from parents and people in the community. It was really busy. The whole school was invited. The hall was packed.

“The pupils organised it all. They set it up, they did all the art work.” A DOCTOR who admitted at te mpt i n g to i mpor t drugs just last week is set to have her licence to practise reviewed.

Katy McAllister, 33, is expected to travel to Manchester in October to appear before the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS) – the reviewing arm of the General Medical Council (GMC).

The hearing, which will review whether she is still fit to practise, could lead to her being struck off the register of practising doctors.

Panellists will hear details of allegations that she removed medication from Ninewells Hospital between December 2012 and September 2014.

They will also examine the circumstances that led to the death of Louise McGowan, a friend of McAllister’s, who died at Voodoo Tattoo on Perth Road in May 2015.

McAllister was cleared of killing McGowan at the High Court in Edinburgh in May 2017, but admitted three counts of supplying or offering to supply controlled drugs and possessing two other substances.
