Five-star West setting their sights on Forfar

- BY CALUM WOODGER

DUNDEE West U/15 boss Billy Davidson has hailed his players a fter thei r 5-2 w i n over Sporting Club last Sunday.

Braces from Declan Mason and Ryan Forbes and an Andrew Cameron strike did the damage for West as they closed the gap on leaders Forfar Boys to two points.

In t h e p r o c e s s , We s t stretched their lead ahead of Sporting Club in third to six points.

And Davidson was delighted to see his side keep their Bill Mills League momentum going as they set their sights on table-toppers Forfar.

“The pleasing thing is the boys have gained a wee bit of momentum,” he said.

“It’s a really good result because it keeps us in touch with Forfar at the top of the table.

“It gives us a bit of clear daylight between us and Sporting Club, too.

“We have Forfar to come soon and it is in our own hands.”

Davidson also highlighted how pleased he was with attackers Mason and Forbes as well as wide midfielder Cameron as they continue to adjust to West’s forwardthinking system.

He added: “It was awful weather conditions but the boys did well.

“Ryan and Declan play up top, while Andrew is a wide left player. We have a very attacking team.

“Those lads, in particular, have been scoring a lot but the most pleasing thing is the result.

“Goals are coming from all over the pitch now, though, as the team has started to gel.

“We only just got this team together this season after joining the two teams together from last term.

“It’s an experienced team, though. We were in the top league last season and we suffered but that has stood us in good stead.

“We’re still in the Scottish Cup, too, so it’s all positive for the rest of the season.”
