Confident Swanson is looking forward to game against Buddies

-

DANNY Swanson is ready to play a vital role for St Johnstone in their away match against St Mirren on Saturday.

The former Dundee United, Hear ts, Hibs, Peterborough and Coventry player made only his second start of the league campaign last weekend, the 2-2 draw against Ross County.

However, the 32-yearold produced a fantastic display marking his performance with an assist for Stevie May’s first-half equaliser.

Up until the Ross County match, Swanson had to be content with appearances from the substitutes’ bench.

His cause has not been helped by a series of injuries but, after being handed a start against Ross County, he feels like he’s ready to kick on and get a run in the Saints side.

“I really enjoyed the game,” Swanson said.

“It was great being back out there but obviously the result wasn’t the victory we wanted.

“We played really well and deserved to win but that’s football.

“The boys are still very confident and we know that one win gets us right back in the mix. There’s no panic.

“When you’re on the substitutes’ bench you always wonder when the chance will come to get back in.

“I spoke to the gaffer last week and he was very honest with me.

“I’ve been working really hard in training and I felt fit in the Ross County match.

“I came off because I had a dead leg but, in general, felt good.

“My weight is where I want it to be at the moment, which is a big thing for me.

“I’ll continue working hard up so I’m ready to go for St Mirren.

“Now, hopefully, I can get a run of games in the team.”
