Maidens flying the flag

SPORTS However, it’s ‘Scottish’ exit for Fintry Athletic, Park Tool

THE Kelme-sponsored Scott ish Cup secondround replays saw one of t he t h ree D u ndee Saturday Morning League (DSMFL) sides progress to the third round.

The Maidens made short work of seeing off Kilbarchan 5-1 in an entertaining game at DISC.

A brace from Robertson and one apiece from Davidson, Agacan and Berry saw them through with ease.

There wasn’t much joy for the other two DSMFL teams who travelled through to the west coast, with Fintry Athletic losing 5-3 against Bellaire and Park Tool crashing out 5-1 against Glasgow Island.

In the Doc Ferry’s Premier Division, there was a change at the top with DUSC going to the summit courtesy of an 8-1 demolition of Riverside CSC.

They benefited from Charlie Accies’ dramatic l ate winner against previously top-of-thetable Cairdy Thistle to smash their 100% start to the season.

Accies secured the win with a 30-yard free-kick from captain Neave to clinch the points in a 4-3 success.

Bank Street Athletic are in joint second spot after they shared a dozen goals in a 6-6 draw against Dryburgh. In a cracker of a game, ’Burgh led 5-2 with 20 minutes to play.

Bankies staged a late rally to lead 6-5 but a late equaliser from Dryburgh ensured the points were shared.

Cannon Fodder remain pointless after a 6-1 defeat against Stobswell.

They had a chance to level just before half-time with Kerrigan missing from the penalty spot.

They fell apart in the second half with Kerrigan grabbing a late consolation for what was their sole crumb of comfort.
