Another super show, and bronze medal, for Dundee skater McKay
THREE-TIME British Senior Ladies champion figure skater Natasha McKay won her second international medal of the 201920 season with a bronze medal in the Golden Bear of Zagreb event.
She recently won gold in t h e Ta y s i d e T r o p h y International in her home city of Dundee.
McKay competed i n a 25-strong senior ladies field in Croatia, featuring skaters from all across the world.
She opened her first day of competition with a short program score of 55.83 points which took her into fifth place heading into the free program.
In the free, she gave an outstanding performance, scoring an incredible 114 points, smashing her personal best and making it the highest free program score ever recorded by a British lady.
This gave her a total competition score of 170 points which was another new personal best and a new British record. This world-class score pulled McKay up two places to win the bronze medal, her second international medal of the season, and her eighth international medal to date.
Competing alongside McKay was fellow teammate Danielle Harrison.
Following a disappointing short program, she made up two places in the free to finish the event in 17th place.
Team GB Olympic Coach Simon Briggs said: “This event has really been a great outing for Natasha.
“She put down the performance of her life in the free program and this is down to the hard work, dedication, and great attitude that she has.
“Natasha has proven time and time again she has what it takes to continue to build each season.
“After three events this year, she has stepped up big time. We are delighted with her performances.”
