THERE was heartbreak for D u ndee Sat u rday Mor n i ng L ea g ue side Craigie FC in their Direct Soccer-sponsored North of Tay Cup game away to Auchterard­er.

In a game they had plenty of chances in, they were tied 3-3 at full-time. The home side then edged through 6-5 on spot-kicks.

It was a bitter one for the Craigie players and officials to swallow in their first foray into a district cup competitio­n.

In the Doc Ferry’s Premier

Division, Bank Street Athletic triumphed in their top-of-thetable clash against Cairdy Thistle.

The Bankies raced into a 4-0 lead before a half-hearted comeback from Cairdy, who knocked t wo in. Bankies triumphed 5-2.

Cairdy have lost two on the bounce to stall their early-season momentum and swap the top of the table with Bankies who lead by two points but have played at least two more matches than the chasing pack.

Fintry are playing fixture catchup and moved into fourth with four games in hand and trailing Bankies by five points.

They had to dig deep at the weekend, trailing 3-0 to Riverside CSC before going 4-3 up and holding on at end having been reduced to 10 men.

They emerged 5-4 winners and picked up three vital points for their efforts.

Occidental scored a last-minute winner to edge past Park Tool 2-1, while Stobswell and Dryburgh CC ended 0-0.

The Maidens registered their first win of the league campaign with an easy victory over Cannon Fodder.

Trailing to an early Fodder goal, they led 3-1 at the break and went on to thrash Fodder 11-2 with Jake Davidson putting on a masterclas­s in finishing.
