McPake hails ‘steam train’ Kerr after return to the Dark Blues XI
DUNDEE boss James McPake hailed the impact of right-back Cammy Kerr after returning to the starting XI for the wins at Ayr United and Alloa.
The 24-year-old sat out recent home matches against Arbroath and Partick before regaining his starting spot for the victory at Somerset Park on Friday night.
And he backed that up with a fine performance in the 3-0 victory at Alloa Athletic.
It was a display that delighted his manager.
James said: “Cammy Kerr has been out of the team and did a great job on Alan Forrest last Friday – he’s been one of the most dangerous players in the league – and on Tuesday at Alloa he was a real outlet going forward.
“He was like a steam train going up and down.
“He played with t he confidence and freedom I know Cammy Kerr has.”
The Dens gaffer was pleased with the performance of his whole team as they swept the Wasps aside.
And he’s called for the same level of performance as they take on Greenock Morton at Dens Park tomorrow night.
The success at the Indodrill Stadium was the Dark Blues’ first back-toback wins and James has challenged his side to make it three on the bounce.
He added: “It’s a box ticked, something that keeps popping up like the first away win.
“You want that out the road. As a manager, it’s the first time I’ve won two games i n a row so it’s important for me.
“It is only two, though, and we need to kick on now.
“We are back home tomorrow night and it will t ake that l evel of performance again.
“We have another tough game against a team that’s already got the better of us this season.”
