Dundee boss McPake tempted to change XI for third clash in a week

-

JAMES McPake says he is tempted to make changes to his starting XI tonight as his side face up to a third crunch Championship clash inside a week.

However, with two good wins at their backs he could be asking for more of the same from the Dark Blues.

There are no new injury worries for tonight’s match at home to Morton (KO 7.05pm).

Josh Todd is once again a doubt after needing stitches in his shin after last week’s 2-1 win at Ayr United while Jamie Ness is continuing his return to match fitness.

The Dens boss said: “You’re always tempted to make changes.

“You weigh up who you are playing against and it doesn’t matter whether someone has played the two games, if we feel we should change it we will.”

James has been delighted with his team’s work over the past few weeks.

He added: “The performances are getting better and better.

“Tuesday night (at Alloa) was our best so far but it was a different kind of performance to the one on Friday night. We showed a lot of character that night late on, particularly after what had happened against Partick.

“It’s getting the balance of being really good i n games but, when we need to show the other side of our game, showing it.

“I know we can dig in, we can roll our sleeves up and be horrible – we proved that at Somerset Park.

“Our consistency is getting better but we are always striving to improve.

“I thought as a team we defended really well on Tuesday.

“It’s not just the defenders, Kane Hemmings starts that and he’s now at a level where he i s fit and his performances have shown that. Graham Dorrans, too, is fit and his performances are showing that.”
