Dee duo both lose heavily
IT was tough going for both Dundee teams last Saturday in the women’s Hockey Premiership as they conceded 11 goals between them with only one on the credit side.
Wanderers suffered their second successive 6-0 defeat, this time at the hands of Western Wildcats who moved to within two points of the Dundee side in fifth.
This dramatic fall from leading the Premiership comes after Wanderers’ excellent 2-0 win over Clydesdale Western, who now head the way with that defeat the only blemish on their record.
Grove Menzieshill are still comfortably in mid-table after their 5-1 defeat to Edinburgh University, Ellie Stott scoring Grove’s consolation goal.
Edinburgh have now found their form after a slow start and are chasing Clydesdale Western at the top of the Premiership.
This weekend,
Wanderers and Grove Menzieshill clash for the first time this season at Dalnacraig.
Wanderers were very much the team in form until two significant defeats over the last two weekends and will hope to return to winning ways.
Grove have turned in good results but not yet against the expected top four teams.
Leaders Clydesdale Western should have few problems in taking the points against GHK and neither should Edinburgh University against Glasgow University or Watsonians away to Gordonians.
Similarly, Western Wildcats should take the points against Hillhead and that would put them above Wanderers should the Dundee side fail to beat Grove.
