Davidson feels Saints are on a learning curve as season progresses

-

ST JOHNSTONE midfield man Murray Davidson says the team did not get too carried away after beating Hamilton and Hearts.

And he insists, although Saints are disappointed at losing 4-1 to Hibs on Saturday, they are not too downbeat.

“There is no panic when we lose,” he said.

“We’re basically a young team which has to learn from our mistakes. It’s a learning curve for everyone.

“It’s frustrating to lose in the manner we did against Hibs and it would be nice to have a game this weekend to give us the chance to bounce back.

“I hate weekends off but will just have to put up with it and concentrate on Aberdeen at home a week on Sunday.

“It’s a tough game but we have beaten them before and can do so again.”

Saints got off to a bad start against Hibs by losing a goal inside two minutes.

Davidson added: “We can’t defend the way we did. We got what we deserved.

“We were two down at half-time and needed to start the second half well to get back into the game.

“However, we soon lost another goal and that was that. That game is over now, though, and we are concentrating on t he Aberdeen match.”

Saints may again be without central defender Liam Gordon for the Dons fixture. He is still on the way back from a knee injury.

Having lost 28 goals so far, Saints are looking to add an experienced central defender in the January transfer window.

Manager Tommy Wright explained: “Our young players at the back need experience to help them. We will look to address that in January. I feel I’m an experienced centreback away from having a good squad.”
