Premier clubs hand out pastings

-

THE Dundee Saturday Morning League (DSMFL) teams in the Direct Soccersponsored North of Tay Cup had mixed fortunes.

In the all-DSMFL clashes, there was no joy for the lower division teams against Premier clubs with Dundee West losing 13-1 to Fintry Athletic.

Park Tool were also in merciless form, scoring eight in the last 20 minutes against nine-man Riverside Athletic.

Riverside CSC and Occidental fought out a nine-goal thriller with Oxy emerging 5-4 winners.

Cannon Fodder put their poor league form behind them to emerge 6-0 winners against Kinrossie.

Fodder were 2-0 up at the break courtesy of two own goals but took matters into their own hands in the second half with Reggie Anderson grabbing two and Shaun Kerrigan and Craig Stewart one apiece.

Bank Street Athletic made the trip to Auchterarder worthwhile with a 4-2 win.

They led 3-0 at the break with Ross Evans getting three, the pick of which was a 25-yard dink over the keeper’s head. Stephen Ramsay’s goal sealed the win after Auchterarder hit two in quick succession.

North End also go into the next round after a 4-2 win over Balmoral.

Kelso also went through after a penalty shootout against Montrose.

There wasn’t much luck for the rest of the DSMFL clubs, with Dryburgh losing 2-1 to MAFA high-flyers Menzieshill.

Clark’s were unlucky in losing 5-4 to Bridgeton, Fife Thistle lost 6-1 to Burrelton, Sporting Club of Tayside were left short handed after an early red card in their 4-0 loss to Invergowrie, while Lochee Celtic and Lochee Albion went out to Rattray and Bridge of Earn respectively.

The Beat held Wellbank to a 2-2 draw but lost in the shootout.

The Maidens and Stobswell’s games were called off due to frozen pitches so will go ahead in Perth this weekend.

DUSC went top in the Doc Ferry’s Premier Division after a 2-1 win over Charlie’s Accies.

FC Spartak’s 11-0 win against Club 83 puts them in the driving seat in Group A of the Riverview Utilities First Division Cup.

In the Second Division group games, Craigie edged through 1-0 against Abertay University in Group A, while Kirkton put themselves in control in Group B with a 3-1 win over Whitfield Tavern.
