Danielle Gaffar, 19, pounced on Kyra Strachan at Aura nightclub on February 3 this year.

Dundee Sheriff Court heard the pair were once firm friends but fell out over Gaffar’s ex-boyfriend.

Kyra, who was 18 at the time, received eight stitches in her face as a result of Gaffar’s savage assault.

Gaffar was jailed for 16 months and Sheriff Tom Hughes slammed the girl’s “brutal and “reprehensible” conduct.

Gaffar could be seen weeping heavily as she was led to the cells.

Speaking immediately after the sentence, Kyra said: “She got what she deserved. I’m just so glad it’s over.

“I can move on with my life now.”

Gruesome i mages shared on social media after the attack showed part of Kyra’s cheek hanging off.

Prosecutor Kirsten Letford previously revealed Kyra initially had no idea that it was Gaffar who was attacking her.

Kyra suddenly felt a “sharp” pain on her face and discovered that she was being bitten by Gaffar.

Gaffar, of Tealing, pled guilty to striking Kyra’s head off the ground, putting her arm around her throat and restricting her breathing and biting her on the face to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

When jailing Gaffar, Sheriff Hughes said: “This can only be described as a brutal attack.

“There has been absolute outrage in the community because of what happened.

“It was a reprehensible action on the night i n question and the court can’t tolerate people being involved in that type of conduct.”
