For Stars after sword at DIA

-

On Friday evening at Dundee Ice Arena, against Clan, Stars were behind early on as Matt Beca poked home a loose puck from close range after five minutes.

Zack Fitzgerald’s side doubled their lead six minutes later as Scott Pitt scored another tap-in but following a short timeout, Stars responded through Anthony Beauregard to cut the lead to one in the 14th minute.

In the second period, the home team drew level through Drydn Dow, as he turned in a cross-ice pass on 29 minutes before taking the lead five minutes later through Craig Gans’ slapshot.

Clan tied the game up in the third session when Craig Peacock tucked home a rebound on the powerplay in the 45th minute but the Tayside team were back in front shortly after Kevin Dufour also converted on the powerplay.

Then, 36 seconds later, Brett Stovin whacked a hard shot from distance that beat Jordan McLaughlin up high to give Stars a 5-3 lead.

Matt Carter finished into an empty net 58 seconds from time to roundoff the scoring at 6-3.

Meanwhile, Dundee’s two Scottish National League teams battled it out on Saturday night with Dundee Tigers emerging as the victors.

After opening up a 4-0 lead in the first period, Tigers were able to fend off the Dundee Comets comeback, as the home side pulled three back in the final stanza.

Tigers goals came from Sean Dyer, Ben MacFarlane, Ross McIntosh and Jack Henderson, while Jonathan McBean, Ben Edmonds and David Pokorny netted for the Comets.

Last night, Tigers slipped to a 5-1 defeat at home to Paisley Pirates.
