Ryan digs out a winner for Carnoustie

CARNOUSTIE are now 11 points clear at the top of the Super League after a 1-0 victory over Downfield.

It was goalless at half-time but the league leaders broke the deadlock in 66 minutes when Ryan Dignan fired home what proved to be the winner.

Lochee United kept in touch with the leaders with a hard fought 2-0 win at Kirrie Thistle.

After a closely-fought first half, the Bluebells edged ahead a minute from the break through a Scott McComiskie penalty.

McComiskie proved to be the key man when he headed home No 2 at the far post from a Logan Davie cross

Bottom-of-the-table Forfar West End posted only their third win of the season in convincing fashion away to Luncarty.

After a goalless first period, Graeme Hart’s freekick 10 minutes after the restart broke the deadlock.

And, with 10 minutes left, he added No 2, with Rikki Gillespie putting the icing on cake with the third just before the final whistle.

West End finished the match with 10 men after Calum Petrie’s dismissal, five minutes from time.

Scone Thistle recorded a 3-0 win over South Premier League stragglers West Calder in round one of the DJ Laing East Region Cup.

A first-half Aiden Benvie brace was followed by Steven Moon scoring the third two minutes from time.

Blairgowri­e exited the competitio­n after an odd-goal-in-three defeat at home to South Super League side Kennoway in the third round.

Two down, Darren Neave pulled one back for Blair 10 minutes from the break.
